Ramadan for Palestine Campaign in schools to instill caring spirit

KUCHING: The Ramadan for Palestine campaign in schools aimed to instill caring spirit among students to help those in need.State Education director Mortadza Alop said the main objective of the programme was to educate students on the suffering faced by Palestinians, and the campaign was a great way to remind Malaysians to be more caring individuals.

Mortadza who was speaking during the Ramadan donation to Palestine event at Sekolah Menengah Teknik Sejingkat yesterday also urged everyone not just to carry out such gesture during the holy month, but on a continuous basis.

“This programme is a tool to remind us not to neglect what is happening around us, especially issues involving peace and sovereignty.”

Meanwhile, Aman Palestin Berhad Sarawak advisor Mohd Nazri Mohd Nor said their efforts to assist the Palestinians should not solely be seen as a religious effort, but also humanity, apart from promoting the spirit of love towards our own country.

The event yesterday witnessed a mock cheque for RM14,707.45, collected from donation drive at participating schools being handed over to Aman Palestin Berhad.

Apart from that, the RM1 a day campaign to Palestine being held in schools had encouraged students to get involve in charitable activities while at the same time educating them on the importance of saving.

Also present at the event yesterday was SMT Sejingkat principal Abdul Munap Syeikh Abdul Kadir.
